Job Posting - Communications and Events Coordinator

The Alberta Sand and Gravel Association (ASGA) represents the interests of nearly 200-member companies that produce and have a vested interest the province’s aggregate sector.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communication and Events Coordinator works to deliver on the goals and mandate of the ASGA by providing:

- Support to the Board of Directors, Executive Director and Committees

- Day-to-day communications coordination

- Drafting numerous written products including, but not limited to, Frequent e-mailed internal communications to members, Quarterly News Publication, Meeting minutes, PowerPoint presentations, Promotional and marketing items, 

- Website maintenance

- Graphic design, using Adobe Suite

- Public relations

- Manage Social media accounts, planning, and content generation

- Lead event planning, including a large Annual General Meeting ever January

- Developing relationships with sponsors

- Media monitoring

- Other duties as assigned

Education

This position requires excellent graphic design, social media, computer, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate would have:

- A B.A. in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism, or equivalent experience.

- Additional training in graphic design, web design, and Media writing would be an asset.

- An understanding of the aggregate industry in Alberta would be an asset.

- Training and/or experience in MS-Office and Adobe Suite.

- Experience or training in Meeting Minute taking and copy editing would be an asset

- The ability and willingness to be a first point of contact for complaints from members, vendors, suppliers, and the public is essential.

Terms:

The Communications Coordinator works from the ASGA office at Suite 308, 10080 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton AB, T5J 1V9.

The incumbent works 1.0 FTE (five days a week).

- Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed

- Salary is based on a range available to the ASGA as well as the incumbent’s education, experience, and skill sets

- Occasional travel within Alberta will be required
